Our mission is to generate space-time insights from remote sensing, big  data and open data for environment, business and daily life. In advance of state-of-the-art in spatial information: Understanding patterns, change, relationships,  reasoning, model,  prediction and  problem solving. Our current research covers four key themes: 1. Environmental Resilience,  2. Human Mobility, 3. Health, 4. Business Intelligence. 

 近年來由於空間資訊科學及技術快速發展，我們有興趣於遙測數據、巨量資料與開放資料，甚至物聯網等，將應用最佳化理論、空間統計、以及機器學習與人工智慧於空間資料科學上。

過去研究主題上主要為空間分析方法之應用，結合生態水文及環境模式包括水文與環境空間模型，實際應用於陳有蘭溪流域遙測植生空間資料分析、高屏地區雨量空間分析、濁水溪沖積扇地下水位監測分析、地層下陷與地下水關係、彰化縣土壤污染之污染源分析、台北市土地變遷分析、台北盆地鳥類多樣性監測分析、台南醫療資源可及性分析、曾文水庫水質視覺化以及空氣污染預測分析等。

 未來研究將整合空間智慧(GeoSmart)的概念，分析與模擬環境監測與環境資訊，提供環境監測與管理之依據，故又以Geo-information analysis and smart management, GeoSmart為實驗室LOGO。相關的研究內容如下:

 自發性地理資訊Volunteered geographic information (VGI)

 空間資訊科學 Geospatial Information Science
